Missing teeth can be replaced with implants, bridges or dentures. Dental implants can replace one or several teeth at one time. A dental implant is completed in stages and may take 3-6 months to complete.  Dental Bridges most commonly replace 1 or 2 teeth at a time and are anchored by the teeth beside the space, thus the name “bridge”. A bridge can be completed in approximately 10-14 days. Dentures can also replace teeth, including replacing a single or several teeth. A denture is a removable appliance. Implants, bridges and dentures are all great options to replace teeth, our team at Maple Mews Dental is happy to answer any questions you may have about the ideal option for you!

Some may choose to leave a space and not replace a missing tooth, this is always an option. The space left by a missing tooth can lead to several different types of oral health complications.

That’s because teeth are placeholders for one another. If a tooth is missing for a long period of time, the other teeth that are adjacent or opposite may shift and change the way your teeth bite together. One more reason that your oral health affects your whole body, we need to bite properly to chew! The space of a missing tooth is also at risk of losing bone density if left without replacement, thus affecting replacement choices in the future.

Dental bridges fill in the spaces left by missing teeth with very natural-looking artificial teeth. Dental bridges are stable and help to improve your bite strength and alignment. In addition, as previously mentioned, it prevents shifting that occurs from missing teeth. Dental bridges are customized for each patient. Dr. Rzepka and Dr. Parker work closely with our dental lab to customize the bridge and the colour of the teeth to match your smile.
